Pfitzner, Hans Erich Websites

German composer and conductor Hans Erich Pfitzner (1869-1949) was an unabashed Romantic, even though over half of his life was spent in the 20th Century. Pfitzner is chiefly noted for two things, his opera Palestrina and being associated with the Nazis. Because of the brilliance of the one and the stain of the other, much of his catalogue was abandoned. Finally, in the late 20th Century, his music began finding champions and was allowed to be heard on its own merits rather than those of its composer.- Category ID : 25003
