Caccini, Giulio Websites

Italian late Renaissance composer Giulio Caccini (1551-1618) was one of the first heralds of what would become the Baroque period. He emphasized monody, with a solo voice accompanied by harmony rather than the four equal voices of earlier Renaissance music. He popularized this form (and claimed it as his own invention) in his published compilations in 1602 and 1614, known as Nuove Musiche. As a member of the Florentine Camerata, he was among the composers of the first operas, including his own Euridice.- Category ID : 24158
