Twentieth century English composer Sir Arnold Edward Trevor Bax (1883-1953) gained popularity with the public as he moved away from chromatic composition into music influenced by a love for things Irish. This change came in large part because of reading the works of W. B. Yeats. Bax wrote seven symphonies and scored motion pictures, including Oliver Twist.
