Windows Mobile is a mobile operating system, a subset of Windows CE, developed by Microsoft for three groups of hardware devices:
- smartphones with touchscreens,
- smartphones without touchscreens,
- and Pocket PCs, personal digital assistants with touchscreens, but without phone capabilities.
These devices run different versions of Windows Mobile, but software for the Windows Mobile platform will run on all three types of devices as long as it does not need some special hardware feature like touchscreen or phone capability.
The first version of Windows Mobile was released in 2000. In 2010 Windows Mobile was superseded by Windows Phone, which is incompatible with Windows Mobile devices and software.- Category ID : 61638
